Greenfield woman saves man's life after main artery ruptures

GREENFIELD, Ind. – A woman was credited with saving a man’s life after one of his main arteries ruptured.

Angel Dudley said she was visiting her daughter when she heard a man screaming for help in the upstairs apartment.

Neighbor Michael Orr was repairing a window when a piece of glass cut his arm, causing a main artery to rupture.

Orr said he didn’t notice anything was wrong until his entire arm went through the window.

“I pulled my arm out and blood was shooting almost up to the ceiling,” said Orr.

Dudley took first aid training last year and said she knew exactly what to do. She grabbed her granddaughter’s jacket to create a wrap to stop the bleeding.

“Oh my god… there was just so much blood!” said Dudley. “I pulled off my belt, got it looped and just yanked real hard,” she said.

Orr said he is thankful Dudley was there to save him.

“Her name suits her very well because I probably would not be here without that angel,” said Orr.
