GREENWOOD — Nathan Philip Milto was the reason for the research done on Late Infantile Batten disease in the late 90s.

Nathan was born on June 29, 1994 with this rare disease, that put him to rest on December 28, 2018.

The Nathan's Battle Foundation was formed in honor of Nathan, to help develop therapies for this specific disease.

Around the country, scientific research was conducted, that involved Nathan as one of it's first participants.

Due to this research, made available because of Nathan and his family, a disease once thought to be incurable now has drug and therapy options.

Nathan has been described by many as a hero.

The Milto family can also be recognized to be the owners of the dry cleaners chain in central Indiana, Milto Cleaners.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church.
