INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis radio fixture Greg Garrison will end a 20-year career on WIBC this year, with his final broadcast to air June 9.
Garrison, 69, gained national attention in 1992 for his successful prosecution of boxer Mike Tyson on rape charges.
He joined WIBC as a conservative commentator in June 1997 – eventually taking over the spot occupied by the "Mike Pence Show" in 2000 after Pence was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Garrison's show was characterized by his staunch conservative positions on national issues. Regular guests included writers and editors for the right-wing website Breitbart and Frank Gaffney Jr., a former Reagan administration official who now heads the conservative Center for Security Policy think tank.
“Greg’s unique style, sharp wit, deep understanding of the law and conservative values have attracted a loyal, devoted audience. He’s their friend, advocate and conscience – and he will be sorely missed,” said David Wood, WIBC program director.
Garrison was the 2003 recipient of the Marconi Award for Personality of the Year for Medium Size Markets.
Garrison's final broadcast will be Friday, June 9. Wood said he will remain involved at WIBC by writing a weekly column for the website and by serving as a contributing legal expert for the station.
A replacement for his time slot has not yet been announced.
