INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis woman was struck by a ricocheting bullet Monday when a gun discharged while being cleaned.

The accidental shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of West Thompson Road.

Police said it appeared a man was cleaning his gun with one round left in the chamber when it discharged. The bullet apparently then ricocheted off the ceiling and struck a woman also living in the house.

The woman was not believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.
