HAMILTON COUNTY, IND --  A woman was killed in a head-on crash on an icy Hamilton County road Friday evening.

The Hamilton County Sheriff says the accident happened on US 31 near 256th Street around 4:30 p.m.

Investigators say Luz Tavarez, 44, was northbound on US 31 when she crossed the center line and collided with another vehicle.

Tavarez was trapped inside her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The second driver was treated for minor injuries.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says icy roads are being considered a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department.
