CARMEL, Ind. -- Born and raised in Indiana and current Carmel resident, Jill Madinger is now serving as Susan G. Komen Central Indiana’s newest executive director.
Madinger replaces Natalie Sutton who served in the role for more than three years.
Having worked in the for-profit sector, Madinger says, "Several years ago, I had the epiphany I wanted to do more and make a difference.”
Most recently, Madinger was executive director of Million Meal Movement, a nonprofit organization dedicated to feeding the hungry in Indiana and offering meaningful volunteer experiences for community members. Madinger currently serves on the board of directors.
Madinger’s previous roles also include Senior Director of International Growth and Education at Kiwanis International and Account Executive at Pillar Group Risk Management.
“I’m drawn toward women’s issues and children, and the work Komen is doing through research is something I want to be a part of," said Madinger.
Her role with Susan G. Komen Central Indiana will focus on helping set strategies and on additional revenue streams.
Registration is open for next year’s Race for the Cure event, coming up in April. She says it’s all-hands-on-deck deck and she is hoping for dry weather this year and identifying what that strategy will be for the new revenue stream.
Madinger admits the organization lost money due to the weather cancellation this year and she is trying to find a funding source that is not directly related to an event.
“I love that the organization has stepped up and said, ‘We can do this and we will do this.’”
Madinger looks forward to meeting more survivors and working with them to find the cures.
