CARMEL, Ind.-- GEICO announced Tuesday that it will add nearly 1,500 jobs in central Indiana by the end of 2022.

The insurance company will invest more than $16 million to nearly double its office space at W. 103rd St. in Carmel.

"The support of this thriving community and our growing customer base in Indiana have made this expansion possible. We are excited to bring on new associates to help us continue to offer excellent service to our customers across the state," said Lona Montgomery, general manager, GEICO Indianapolis office.

GEICO will begin recruiting immediately to fill the new jobs.  The company plans to add more than 350 IT positions and 1,000 in customer service and claims handling. To apply, click here.

Pending approval from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation board of directors, the IEDC will offer GEICO up to $16 million in conditional tax credits and up to $500,000 in training grants.

The company won't be eligible to claim those incentives until Hoosiers are hired.

GEICO established its customer service center in Indiana 2013 and employs about 1,200 associates in the state.
