FISHERS, Ind. – One year after being involved in a serious motorcycle accident that caused a Fishers firefighter to lose his leg, he was determined to return to work.
Brandon Anderson at Station 93 said after his accident he not only wanted to walk again, but to do what he loved.
“The first day coming back, to be back in my house, with my crew and on my truck was just one of those things, you know one of those hopes and dreams that you wished for,” said Anderson.
He now uses a prosthetic leg and said he had to retrain his body to do work tasks – like how to step up onto the fire truck.
"You're back and you have to perform at an optimal level every day when the tones go off,” he said.
In order to keep up with other crew members headed out the door during an emergency, Anderson has a second prosthesis already placed in his boot.
