FISHERS, Ind. -- Fishers IKEA has been busy since the day they opened but police in the city are warning people to take care with their purchases.

In a Facebook post earlier this week, police posted a photo of an IKEA couch smashed all over I-69 with the caption "Please make sure your treasures from IKEA are properly secured to your vehicle before hitting the road" and several cheeky hashtags like #clarkgriswaldmove and #someonemissingacouch.

The photo spurred a lot of reaction on social media, but holds a serious note - if you're going to purchase an item make sure you can properly strap it onto or in your vehicle before driving away. Otherwise, police are left #pickingupthepieces.

IKEA opened on October 11 and has been busy ever since. The new Indiana store is located on IKEA Way off 116th Street - right off the 205 exit of I-69.
