FISHERS, Ind. -- The grand opening for the long-awaited Portillo's in Fishers has been pushed back because of Hurricane Irma.
The restaurant is still waiting on some essential restaurant equipment that was delayed because of the storm and they've had to delay their grand opening by two days because of the new timeline.
Portillo's will now open its Fishers store on Thursday, September 28 at 10:30 a.m.
If you were registered for one of the "Sneak Peek" training meals on September 19 or 22 those meals have been moved to September 26 from noon to 8 p.m. and September 27 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The September 21 session has been canceled but those who were registered can bring their "Golden Hot Dog Ticket" to the restaurant after it opens for a free sandwich of their choice.
The 9,000-square foot eatery will feature a prohibition theme, two drive-thru lanes, outdoor seating and beer.
The only current Portillo’s location in Indiana is in Merrillville, but those in Indianapolis have wanted one to call their own for quite some time.
Portillo’s is hiring hourly positions. Those interested can apply here.
