FISHERS, Ind. -- A large graffiti tag has Fishers residents on edge.

The tag was found on a wooden fence near the railroad tracks on E 106th St. Some are concerned it might indicate gang activity in the area.

"It's some kind of gang stuff to me, but I don't know for sure," said Mike Clinton who lives in the neighborhood. "I wish I could know what it says."

The City of Fishers announced plans earlier this year to develop this section of the railroad aspart of the Nickel Plate Trail, a walking and biking trail connecting Fishers and Noblesville.

Fishers Police Officer Tom Weger says the department is investigating, but little is known about who’s responsible or whether it is indeed a gang symbol.

Regardless, this sort of vandalism is not a victimless crime. Weger says it will be the property owner’s responsibility to remove the graffiti.

"Just out of respect they should just come take it off," said Cheryl Lenon who also lives in the neighborhood. "It's been on the fence all week. When it was farm fields there was no crime."
