GREENFIELD, Ind. -- Scammers are targeting Greenfield-area businesses, claiming to be involved in fundraisers for Greenfield-Central Community School Corportation athletic teams.

Donieta Ross, executive assistant to the Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation superintendent, confirmed to RTV6 that two to three local businesses had been contacted via phone about the fundraisers.

Ross said the businesses were asked to participate in sports calendars or banners to raise money for Greenfield-Central athletics.

The scammers would then send emails listing levels of sponsorship.

Athletic director Jared Manning called the telemarketers in question, but was unable to make contact.

The school corporation wants other local businesses to be aware of a company called "Sports Media Advertising," based out of Dallas, TX, and a local company called "All-Sports Calendars."

Ross says none of the local businesses contacted gave money to the telemarketers in question, and wants to reiterate Greenfield-Central athletics do not contract with outside organizations to raise money for its athletic teams.
