GREENFIELD, Ind. – A high school student in Greenfield helped dozens of people in need receive new eyewear.
Senior Matt Boyle, who volunteers at Kenneth Butler Soup Kitchen, said he noticed many customers in need of glasses.
Boyle learned of a program operated by Ossip Optometry that donates glasses and an eye exam to the public. He convinced workers at the glasses shop to stop by the soup kitchen and supply visitors with new glasses.
"He needs a good pat on the back and you know keep going because it'll help other kids,” said Ray Miller, soup kitchen customer.
The Mount Vernon student even arranged a bus trip to Ossip's Greenwood office.
“I just know that I've been blessed and that I know that it's within me to give back and it just makes me feel great,” said Boyle.
Workers at the soup kitchen were so impressed with Boyle, they offered him a seat on their board of directors.
