HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. -- The Mount Vernon Schools superintendent has stepped away from his full-time job to help with relief efforts as part of the National Guard for hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico.

Dr. Shane Robbins manages the affairs of his district over video chat while he's serving in South Carolina, receiving medical transports out of Puerto Rico.

"First and foremost I represent my family," said Dr. Robbins. "But I consider Mt. Vernon to be another part of my family and I miss them. I can't wait to get back."

Watch more about Dr. Robbin's responsibilities and how he handles both jobs while serving his country in the video player above.
