Splash pad coming to Greenfield park

Posted

GREENFIELD, Ind. -- With cold weather settling in, here’s some warm news people in Hancock County can look forward to.  Next summer, there will be a new place you and your kids can keep cool.

Construction is scheduled to begin within weeks on a new splash pad that will be next to the public swimming pool at Riley Park.  Final approval for the $2 million project was given by the Greenfield Board of Public Works.  The splash pad will be built by R.L. Turner Corp. of Zionsville.

The new splash pad will cover 4,000 square feet and will be built adjacent to the current swimming pool.  There will be an area for all ages, as well as areas designated for children up to age 5.

The project also includes a new parking lot to be built south of the splash pad next to the Greenfield Senior Center, along Apple Street near the intersection with East Main Street (SR 40).

Greenfield Parks and Recreation hopes to have the new splash pad open by the time the pool re-opens for the summer of 2018.
