GREENFIELD, Ind. – A teen was injured during a single-vehicle crash in Greenfield Friday morning.
Greenfield Police said a 2005 white Nissan was found near Remarkable Drive and West McKenzie Road shortly before 7:15 a.m.
Investigators said the vehicle, driven by a 17-year-old male from Greenfield, was traveling eastbound on West McKenzie Road when it went off the roadway on the south side of the street.
The vehicle was found inverted in a field, and the teen had to be extricated from the car.
He was airlifted to IU Methodist Hospital where he was placed into the intensive care unit.
The teens' mother said her son has multiple broken bones and a long road to recovery. He is expected to go into surgery Saturday.
Neighbors who live in the area of the crash said they are surprised an accident hasn't happened sooner due to the high speed limit.
"We've asked them several times to patrol this because they come over that hill flying," said Darryl Hood. "We have people pulling out of this drive, and by the time they pull out if someone's driving over that hill there's not a lot of time."
Police said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
