Heavy rain causes flash flooding in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS -- Heavy downpours across Central Indiana transformed much of Indianapolis' streets into deep lakes for several hours Friday evening.

Indianapolis police asked all people to stay home and for drivers near deep waters, to turn around.

Cones and barricades were placed in high water areas, but some of them were being carried away.

Cars were trapped in parking lots as the city gained one inch of rain in just the first 30 minutes. 

Several of Friday night's events were postponed or canceled due to the rain, including the Indianapolis Indians game.

Other people around the city were trying to deal with all of the water invading their homes and buildings.
