Body found after house fire in Knightstown, possible accelerants found

KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. -- A body was found after a house fire in Knightstown Thursday night.

The fire broke out Thursday at  38 W Warrick Street. Knightstown Wayne Twp. firefighters were dispatched and called six fire departments in to assist with a fully involved structure fire.

It was determined at that time that someone could still be inside the building.

Knightstown Fire Chief Eric McDaniel said that after an extensive search that was called off until Saturday due ot the challenges of battling the fire, firefighters found a body at 1 p.m. Saturday when K9s indicated human remains. The body has not yet been identified.

K9s also indicated potential accelerants, which have been sent in for testing to determine if the fire was intentional in nature.

No further details were available about the investigation.
