LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- INDOT crews were performing emergency repairs Wednesday on a large hole that began forming in a bridge on I-65.
The hole opened up in the right lane of the approach to the Lauramie Creek Bridge on I-65 southbound near the 164 mile marker, about four miles south of the State Road 38/168 exit.
I-65 was expected to be down to one lane for repairs through 6 a.m. Thursday.
Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes, such as U.S. 52.
The affected area is about 8 miles away from the Wildcat Creek Bridge on I-65 that was closed for weeks earlier this year when support piers began moving.

INDOT said a unique underground water feature was to blame for the problems with that bridge.
