Holiday shopping: Tips to slash your costs

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- With 15 days left until Christmas, if you're trying to do a little budget shopping, you aren't alone.

As it turns out, there are things you can do to save yourself some money and make sure you get the best deal possible. Jeanine Bobenmoyer, of www.TheCityMoms.org, has tips about how you can spend sensibly this season.

Bobenmoyer says coupons are still worth clipping, but she likes using apps to swipe her way to savings.

"One of them is called Shopkick, and it's this app that gives you points for checking the store," she said. "It shows you a whole list of items that they need you to find on the shelves and scan."

The mother of two suggests recruiting your kids to help track down the deals. It also keeps them occupied.

"My favorite [app] is definitely the Target Cartwheel app," she said. "I would definitely go through my cart at the end and scan everything that's in there and see if there are any additional percentages off."

Bobenmoyer also suggested Raise.com, which offers access to discounted gift cards.
