INDIANAPOLIS -- Homicide detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating after a man was found unresponsive -- and later declared dead -- Sunday afternoon in his apartment.

Around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the 3800 block of N. Pennsylvania Street on a report of an unresponsive man.

They found a 44-year-old man, who was not breathing, lying on the floor. Emergency crews pronounced him dead on the scene.

The man's roommate found him and called 911. The roommate is cooperating with investigators and has been questioned. An official cause of death has not been determined by the coroner, but police believe his death is not of natural causes.

The man's identity has not been released.
