INDIANAPOLIS – It’s a popular gesture to donate clothing and shoes to homeless shelters, but those at Horizon House said they’re looking for more of what’s worn underneath clothing.
Staff at the center are in need of underwear, a bare necessity they said isn’t donated as often.
To secure more donations, Horizon House kicked off their Undy 500 campaign earlier this month in hopes of collecting 500 pairs of underwear.
“To have someone come up to a counter and have to ask a stranger for underwear…then we have to say 'I'm sorry we don't any'... that's not treating that individual with respect and dignity,” said Teresa Wessel of Horizon House.
Men’s and women’s underwear can be dropped off at 1033 East Washington Street.
