The study by Forbes compared median base salary to median home value to determine what cities will help your paycheck go the furthest.
No. 1 in the country was Detroit, Michigan, with a median base salary of $61,500 and a median home value of $123,100.
Indianapolis has a median base salary of $56,000, with a median home value of $130,200.
Many of the cities in the top 10 -- not just Indianapolis -- are in the midwest.
