KOKOMO, Ind. –  A bridge in Kokomo, Ind. was renamed Wednesday night in memory of a Howard County sheriff's deputy who was killed in March.

“It’s not about us, it’s about Carl and his family,” said the Howard Co. Commissioners during the bridge dedication.

The bridge, just a quarter mile from the Howard county Sheriffs Department, is located at the intersection of Markland and Park Avenues.

Kassie said Noah gives her strength as it has been nearly five months since she lost her husband.

"I just miss having him around. I just miss him helping with Noah. I miss seeing him with Noah," she said.

The county commissioners also read a resolution passed June 20 in honor of Koontz.

Kassie said the outpouring of support from the community has helped her deal with her loss.

"It's amazing. It helps us everyday, just knowing we have the big family, the community, the big family, the law enforcement and our family. Our immediate family," she said.
