Howard County bans smoking in bars
Posted

HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. – Smoking in bars in Howard County will be prohibited beginning Saturday when a new law goes into effect.

Commissioners passed an ordinance that will ban all smoking in any public place including bars, taverns and private clubs. Kokomo also voted to follow the ordinance.

The ban goes into effect July 1.

“Everybody's going to have to go outside, and in the winter time and in the rain. It's not going to be so nice, but that's the way it is now,” said Josh Layton.

The Filling Station, a Kokomo bar, plans to set up an outdoor seating area so customers can smoke outside.

The ban also includes the use of E-cigarettes inside any public building.
