MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. -- An 18-year-old from Kokomo was killed in a crash with a semi in Miami County Friday night.
Indiana State Police Sergeant Tony Slocum said the crash happened just before 10 p.m. on U.S. 31 and Cassville Road.
Williami Stonestreet III, 18, of Kokomo, was driving a 1996 Dodge Dakota eastbound on Cassville Road toward U.S. 31. Stonestreet crossed the southbound lanes of the intersection safely, but was struck by a semi-tractor in the passenger side while Stonestreet was in the northbound lanes of U.S. 31.
Stonestreet was flown from the crash via medical helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The semi, driven by Kenneth Williamson, 52, of Columbus, Ohio, was pulling a box trailer. Williamson was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation. At this time, neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be a factor in the crash.
