KOKOMO, Ind. -- The father of two young boys who were not returned to the custody of their mother has been arrested and the children have been returned to their mother unharmed.

Kokomo Police Department Captain Tonda Cockrell says Michael D. Lovely, 37, and his estranged wife exchanged custody of their 1-year-old and 4-year-old boys on June 29.

Michael was supposed to return custody of the children to their mother on July 6 but he never showed up.

Howard County Superior Court II issued an emergency order to return custody of the two children on July 18. The two boys were located safe in Kentucky at 4:30 a.m. Friday.

Michael was taken into custody for interfering with custody, which is a felony in Indiana. He will be extradited back to Indiana to face that charge.
