INDIANAPOLIS -- 300 bikers held their third annual Road Construction Awareness ride on Sunday to remind drivers to slow down and give workers space in construction zones.

16 workers have died over the past 10 years on Indiana highways, with the most recent death last June.

31-year-old Derek Knowling and 59-year-old Brian Rees were struck near SR37 and 146th in Noblesville. Knowling was killed.

There are steep penalties for driving recklessly through a work zone with up to a $10,000 fine and up to six years behind bars.

Last month, a jury found Jordan Stafford guilty in the deaths of Cody Demoss and Kenneth Duerson.
