KOKOMO, Ind. -- The Red Cross says its shelter in Kokomo will be open 24 hours a day through the weekend at least to help tornado victims.
Several hundred people stayed at the shelter Wednesday night.
Many couldn't stay in their homes because they had been damaged or destroyed by Wednesday's tornado. Others didn't have power.
The Red Cross provided food and medical assistance to the storm victims.
The shelter in Kokomo is located at the Kokomo Event and Conference Center, 1500 N. Reed Road.
It is still being determined how long the shelter in New Ross at Walnut Elementary School, 3548 S 775 E, will remain open.
