INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Animal Care and Control has named its new executive director – the 13th in as many years.

Katie Trennepohl, who currently works as the director of operations for the Humane Society for Hamilton County, will take over the reigns as executive director at IACC.

Trennepohl succeeds interim director IMPD Sgt. Randy Dodd, who was appointed in May of last year after then-director Dennis Papenmeier resigned after less than six months on the job.

The shelter has been unable to keep directors on for long. Interim director Spencer Moore left the position in August 2014, just months after he was appointed to replace then-director Dan Shackle, who resigned in April 2014 after being suspended twice.

Trennepohl previously worked at the Indianapolis shelter before taking the job in Hamilton County.
