INDIANAPOLIS -- A man was found shot to death early Sunday morning and police believe someone may have also tried to set him on fire.

Officers were called to The Villas apartment complex on Indianapolis' north side around 3:45 a.m. Sunday.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives say the victim in the parking lot had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.

Across the street, at the Viewpointe Apartment complex off of Westlane Road, a maroon Impala was found set on fire.

IMPD says the bumper to the Impala and a light were found at the scene of the homicide. There is also evidence that the car ran into a light pole causing the front end damaged.

Police do not know who the Impala belongs to since it does not have a license plate or a VIN number.

Investigators are asking the public for help. Call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS with any information.
