INDIANAPOLIS -- Police say the death of a 4-month-old boy found unresponsive in an Indianapolis house Thursday afternoon appears accidental.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the home in the 3700 block of Elmonte Court around 3:40 p.m.

Officers found the child unresponsive and immediately began rendering life-saving efforts.

An IMPD officer volunteered to drive the ambulance so that both of the medics could tend the child.

The boy died at Community North Hospital.

The Department of Child Services is investigating. The Indiana Family Social Services Administration is investigating the death as an unlicensed child care complaint. IMPD homicide detectives don't believe there was any foul play.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477
