INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis police were investigating a body on the east side Wednesday found covered in lime and baking soda.

Police were first called to the 5800 block of Bolton Court around 9:00 a.m.

The body was found in an apartment complex covered in a white substance. According to a source, the victim is female and likely died Friday. The source also said the woman's boyfriend phoned in the tip to police from California saying where the body could be found.

Police said the body was under some debris and that white powder covered the scene. The Indianapolis Fire Department tested the substance and determined it was lime and baking soda. Another source said there was indication of drug use in the apartment.

Mary Hertel said she lived below the apartment where the woman's body was found.

"They just moved in about a month ago," she said. "It was a young … I thought they were a married couple. They had a German shepherd."

Police said their first priority is making a positive identification of the body.
