INDIANAPOLIS – Police are trying to find the two rude customers who violently lashed out at an employee at northeast-side McDonald’s this week – all over an incorrect food order.
The women responsible were reportedly so mad, they tried to climb into the drive-thru window.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) says at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, the victim and employee of the McDonald’s dealt with two women who became angry when they didn’t get what they ordered.
IMPD says things escalated and when the employee shut the drive-thru window, the women tried to force their way into the window, damaging it in the process.
That damage led to a sliced-open hand on the employee’s part.
Police have made no arrests in the case yet, but are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the women involved.
Some of the customers we spoke to at this McDonald’s say unusual incidents like this often come with their meal. It’s the same location where a man was shot, in the parking lot back in May.
“A lot of people come here begging for money, begging for food – some of them on drugs,” one customer said. “Anything can pop off at any time.”
Looking at the numbers, since March, IMPD has responded to that very McDonalds 116 times.
Many of those calls are for a disturbance or trouble with a person. But IMPD isn’t calling it a high-crime area.
“It’s not uncommon for us to return to a business a number of times,” IMPD Sgt. Kendale Adams said. “Obviously there are a number of different runs that would cause us to be there.”
IMPD says district commanders usually work with local businesses to try to keep calls for service at a reasonable level.
Meanwhile, the man who owns this McDonald’s issued this statement to RTV6:
“The safety of our guests and employees is a top priority for us. Last night, my restaurant manager was concerned about the behavior of two individuals who were in the restaurant’s drive-thru. The local police were contacted. Any further inquiries should be directed to the Indianapolis Police Department.”
