An IMPD officer arrested in August on domestic battery charges has retired rather than face termination, Chief Rick Hite said Wednesday.
Officer Johnn Scott was arrested August 26 on charges of strangulation, domestic battery and battery following a 911 call to a home on the 6100 block of South Franklin Road.

At the time, IMPD said Scott, a 14-year veteran of the force, had been placed on suspension pending the results of the investigation.
On Wednesday, Hite released a statement saying he had recommended to IMPD's Police Merit Board that Scott's employment be terminated.
"In lieu of pending termination, on Tuesday, IMPD Officer Johnn Scott retired," Hite said.
A pretrial conference for Scott was scheduled next month.
