INDIANAPOLIS -- An IMPD officer was hit by a Jeep Saturday night while he was helping to investigate a crash.

The crash happened around 7pm near 38th and Franklin Road.

While police were investigating the crash, officers stopped 27-year-old Aaron Carr for going the wrong way. They also reportedly smelled marijuana in his Jeep.

Police say Carr then became extremely agitated and put his vehicle into gear, reversed, hit one of the officers and drove off.

Another officer fired a shot to try and stop Carr. He eventually crashed his Jeep and tried running away, but police arrested him shortly afterwards.

He's now facing several charges including battery on an officer.

The injured officer is a six-year veteran of IMPD. He was treated for injuries to his hand and back.
