INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department will hold two training sessions over the next week to help prepare people for possible active shooter situations.
The first session will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana facility at 2301 N. Girls School Road. IMPD Northwest District officers will lead participants through a free 90-minute class based around the ADD strategy, which stands for "Avoid, Deny, Defend."
The class will last 90 minutes, and IMPD said children under 13 should not attend. Anyone who is interested in attending is asked to email madeline.green@indy.gov.
A second training session from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation at 6701 N. Meridian St. will be led by IMPD and the FBI and teach religious leaders how to lead their congregations through active shooter preparedness. Anyone with questions can call 317-939-6700.
