NOBLESVILLE—Little by little, the popular Midland Trace Trail in Noblesville is getting longer.

The Hamilton County city has opened the nearly one-mile-long segment three of the multi-use trail, connecting Willowview Road east to Hague Road.

"Since the Midland Trace Trail was started three years ago, it has quickly become a frequently used, family friendly amenity," said Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear. "The Noblesville portion of the trail extends 3.4 miles east from Westfield and connects Noblesville directly with our neighbors and the Monon Trail to Carmel and Indianapolis."

The trail follows the abandoned Midland Central Indiana Railway corridor, just to the south of State Road 32. Phase one starts in Westfield and goes to Hazel Dell Road. Phase two extends from Hazel Dell east to Willowview where it meets the just-opened phase three.

There are plans to add more miles to the trail, from Hague Road, across Cicero Creek and the White River and beyond State Road 37, according to the mayor.
