CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) -- An Indiana man who police say confessed to killing seven women is now charged with murder in each of the deaths.
Lake County prosecutors charged 44-year-old Darren Vann on Monday in the slayings of Teaira Batey, Tracy Martin, Kristine Williams, Sonya Billingsley and Tanya Gatlin.
He already faced murder charges in the strangulation deaths of Afrikka Hardy and Anith Jones. The (Munster) Times reports prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in all seven cases.

One of Vann's attorneys, Gojko Kasich, said he has not yet seen the court documents and could not comment on the case.
Vann was arrested Oct. 18, 2014, a day after Hammond officers found the 19-year-old Hardy strangled to death in a motel room. The other bodies were found in abandoned buildings across Gary.
In October 2014, Vann's former stepson, Edward Matlock, told the Scripps D.C. Bureau that Vann "creeped me out" and would talk to himself while staring in a different direction.
Matlock said his mother and Vann lived in an area of Austin known for prostitution and drugs, and Vann would sometimes go walking around late at night. His mother told Matlock that Vann was just hanging out with friends. But now Matlock wonders.

"You know Norman Bates, from the movie? That was him, a strange guy," said Matlock, referring to the Alfred Hitchcock character in the movie "Psycho."
