If you’re a Medicaid member in Indiana, you could be receiving a letter about a possible data breach involving your personal information.
According to DXC Technology, the fiscal agent for the Indiana Health Coverage Program (IHCP), an internet hyperlink containing patient information was potentially accessible between February and May of 2017.
The information included patient’s names, Medicaid ID numbers, names and addresses of the health care providers, patient numbers, procedure codes, dates of service, and payment amounts.
The state’s Family and Social Services Administration is the administrator of Medicaid in Indiana.
FSSA spokesperson Marni Lemons said no financial information, social security numbers or patient addresses were compromised.
In fact, FSSA and DXC do not believe any patient information was stolen, however they’re sending out the letters as a precaution because the information was accessible on the internet.
“While DXC Technology has no reason to believe this information has been or will be used inappropriately, DXC has taken steps to offer one year of credit-protection service to impacted individuals at no cost,” according to a statement from DXC. “For individuals who have additional questions about the privacy incident, please call the Indiana Health Coverage Program at 1-800-457-4584. Securing the private information of the residents of Indiana is a top priority for DXC Technology.”
