HUNGTINGTON, Ind. -- A man died after he allegedly shot himself after he was shot by police officers outside of a hospital Friday night.
According to the Indiana State Police, 34-year-old Raul Martinez III called 911 around 10:00 p.m. and told dispatchers he was transporting Destiny Shanks, 18, to the Parkview Huntington Hospital emergency room with gunshots to both of her legs.
The hospital went into lockdown and police officers were sent to meet the couple as they arrived.
When they arrived, Martinez allegedly got out of his car and shot at two Huntington police officers repeatedly with a nine millimeter handgun.

The officers shot at Martinez, hitting him once in the hip. Martinez then had a deadly gunshot wound to his head.
According to the Huntington County Coroner, all indications suggest the gunshot wound to the head was self-inflicted.
Shanks was flown to a Fort Wayne Hospital. Her condition is unknown.
No officers were injured.
