INDIANAPOLIS — For the seventh year in a row, the Indianapolis International Airport has been named the best Airport in North America by the Airports Council International.
The award is based on customer feedback from airports serving between 5 to 15 million passengers. The Indy airport flew 9.4 million passengers in 2018 which set an all-time record.

“This award is based on input directly from passengers that have actually flown out of and into the Indy airport, and who have a first-hand experience with us,” said Mario Rodriguez, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “This in-depth feedback not only has earned us the title over eight years, it is crucial to how we continue to invest in the airport and enhance its value to the community in the decades to come.”
The Indy airport isn't new to accolades, in recent years it has been recognized by J.D. Power, Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure and TripAdvisor.
"Inside the terminal, passengers have access to children’s play areas, human-powered charging stations for electronic devices, water bottle filling stations, and instant access to fast and free Wi-Fi. The airport features the works of local artists in both permanent and rotating displays, and on the first Friday of the month, musicians or local school performance groups provide travelers with live entertainment – showcasing Hoosier culture as travelers come to Indianapolis. These amenities and features strive to extend Hoosier hospitality even further than the friendliness and courtesy of employees, providing high marks for the airport’s environment and ambience."
