INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Animal Care Services has no more room for dogs and cats and they need your help this week to find homes for as many of the animals as possible.

IACS is running a $20 adoption special through Saturday to help to relieve the overcrowding

While they have had a very successful year of adoptions, the shelter is currently home to 200 more animals than were there this time last year.

In the month of August alone, 365 animals have been taken in as strays or put up for adoption by their owners. Many of them have been left on the facility’s back door.

Unfortunately, other animal rescue partners in the city are also at capacity and can’t take in cats and dogs to help IACS.

Same-day adoptions will take place all this week for cats and dogs. For those who cannot adopt, the shelter always accepts canned dog and cat food and monetary donations.

IACS is located at 2600 S. Harding Street in Indianapolis.

The shelter is open Monday 10 a.m.- 8 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and closed on Sundays.
