INDIANAPOLIS—Spring is here and it's time to get the accumulated trash out of city streets, alleys and parks.
The Great Indy Cleanup, a Keep Indianapolis Beautiful event, began a four-week blitz of Indianapolis neighborhoods, Saturday.
The focus was on the south side—neighborhoods such as Fletcher Place, Fountain Square, Bates-Hendricks and Garfield Park.
Neighbors pitched in to spruce up their areas.
Additional cleanups take place this month:
- April 13: West side, downtown, north up to Fall Creek.
- April 20: North and northwest.
- April 27: East side
A large-scale beautification day is planned April 27 in the Christian Park neighborhood.
More than 400 volunteers are expected to cleanup Christian Park and surrounding areas.
Additional cleanups will be scheduled through October.
