INDIANAPOLIS -- Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stopped Indianapolis Letter Carrier Howard Stevenson from delivering the mail for 56 years.
Stevenson, 76, retired from the U.S. Postal Service on Tuesday.
He began his career with U.S.P.S. in April 1960 as a substitute letter carrier at the Fountain Square Station.
In 1962, Stevenson became a full-time regular carrier.
He moved to the Mapleton Post Office in 1974 and has been there ever since.
When asked about working for the Postal Service, Stevenson said, "I love the Post Office and my job. I really like my customers who have been with me for quite a while. Love the work in general."
