INDIANAPOLIS — An argument between an Indianapolis woman and her 35-year-old son at their east side condo ended in Patricia Bassey's beating death.

Now, Gabriel Bassey is going to prison for 26-years after pleading guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter charges. He was sentenced Monday in Marion County Criminal Court.

In June of 2018, city police officers were called to the Chatham Walk townhomes in the 8000 block of E. 20th Street. Inside, they found 54-year-old Patricia Bassey dead.

Investigators believe mother and son were involved in an argument over loud music Gabriel was playing the previous night.

Police say it became physical and resulted in Patricia's death. The Marion County Coroner's Office says Patricia died of blunt force trauma.
