INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Indianapolis is known as the home of the Indy 500 and the Indianapolis Colts, but we’ve recently gained a new title as one of the 50 best running cities in America. Number 45 to be exact.

Runners World magazine just released their list of  “America’s 50 Best Running Cities” as part of their 50th anniversary celebration.

The magazine editors compared over 250 U.S. cities to come up with those that rank best for runners of all levels. They looked at a number of factors including running trails, parks, running clubs and the number of races held in the city in 2016.

Ranked as the number 1 runner-friendly city, San Francisco was home to 246 races last year. Seattle was a close second with their 100 miles of running trails and Boston claimed the number 3 spot.

The full article will be featured in the October issue of Runners World which will hit newsstands on September 6th.
