Indianapolis teen arrested and charged as adult in murder of 16-year-old

INDIANAPOLIS — Police believe they have the person who murdered an Indianapolis 16-year-old in November.

The suspect is also 16, and is being charged as an adult with Murder, Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and Dangerous Possession of a Firearm.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest Thursday of 16-year-old Dejuan Taylor for the murder of Elijah Taylor. The victim and suspect share the same last name, but are not related.

According to police, the shooting death happened on November 17 at a west side apartment complex, during the attempted robbery of a video game and a phone.

Elijah Taylor was unresponsive when police arrived and was declared dead at the scene. According to police, Taylor was found outside with a Play Station 4 between his legs, with cords and controller nearby.
