INDIANAPOLIS—There was a lot of big news in 1912.
The Titanic went down in the North Atlantic, Woodrow Wilson was elected president and Arizona became the 48th state.
Meanwhile, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Sarah Jane Harris was born.
Harris and her family moved north to Indianapolis in 1917 and she's been here ever since.
June 20 is her 107th birthday!
Harris attended IPS elementary schools and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School, then worked for years at hospitals and nursing homes.
Along the way, she married five times—outliving four husbands, with another marriage ending in divorce.
She had no children.
Her friend and caregiver, Victoria Johnson, describes Harris as "feisty," and a woman of strong Christian faith who attends Faith Tabernacle most Sundays.
And she still has her hair and nails done on a regular basis.
Happy Birthday, Sarah Jane Harris!
