INDIANAPOLIS -- One person is dead and a second person was injured in a crash on I-70 in Indianapolis Wednesday afternoon.

Indiana State Police were called to the scene near Holt Road around 2 p.m. for a crash involving two trucks and found the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado trapped and unconscious.

That driver, Dustin McCoy, 33, was extricated from his truck and pronounced dead at the scene.

The 25-year-old driver of the second truck was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition.

Investigators believe the second truck was parked along the left shoulder of I-70 with emergency lights activated while he performed maintenance on a road sign. After completing his work, state police believe he got into his truck just before the McCoy veered off the roadway and struck the rear end of the work truck.

Several lanes were closed in both directions as accident reconstruction and cleanup crews worked the scene Wednesday afternoon.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Indiana State Police.
